	The BSA is putting Scouting on the map all across the nation! As part of the BeAScout initiative, the Boy Scouts of America will have it's own joining Web page with information on Scouting, plus an actual Google map application that will help potential Scouts and their parents find packs, troops, and crews in their communities. 	National Jamboree 2013 is fast approaching! The National Jamboree to be held July 15-24 2013, will be held at its' new permanent location, Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. Loocated near New River Gorge, West Virginia, this newest BSA High Adventure Base is the perfect place to kickoff Scoutings" next century! Get more information here! 	Hiking Trails open at Camps! Work was recently completed on two hiking trails at Camp Tuk and at Camp Hobbs. Now hikers have a choice of the 5 Mile First Class Trail at Camp Tukabatchess or the shorter 2.4 mile trail at Camp Hobbs! Download a map and written directions here.
	The Council is implementing a new policy for the use of credit and debit cards to pay fees etc. Please note that this policy applies only to credit/debit card transactions with the Council Office not the Scout Store. Read the new policy here.
	*BSA LEAVE NO TRACE TRAINING* We will be holding a Leave No Trace Master Educator Course This winter. On the weekends of Nove November 9 - 11, 2012 and December 7 - 10, 2012(both weekends are required) at Camp Tukabatchee. The fee is $200.00 due ASAP. Skip Essman, State Advocate, is the point of contact. You cna reach Skip at 334-324-0339 or email. Gear: Bring what you would normally pack for a backpacking trip. Do not bring food as it will be provided by the course. Any other items you want to bring is your decision. *This course is for registered Scout Leaders only.* Anyone attending will graduate as a Master Educator in Leave No Trace with the Center for Outdoor Ethics in Boulder, Colorado. You will also be able to provide LNT Trainer Courses anywhere in the country. You will also be eligible to fill a State Advocate position for the state you reside in. You must attend all sessions of the course to graduate as a Master Educator. You will receive many handouts and other materials upon graduation. Download a flyer here.
	The BSA Tour Plan is new- The new Tour Plan produced by BSA takes the place of the old "Tour Permit" used by BSA and this council for many years. The Tukabatchee Area Council will fully implement the new Tour Plan and procedures effective January 3, 2012. Additional information regarding the new Tour Plan can be found at Scouting.org. When do I file the Tour Plan with the Tukabatchee Area Council office? When taking a trip of 500 miles or more When taking a trip outside council borders When going to any BSA high adventure base When attending any BSA national activity (Jamboree, OA, Conference, etc) When conducting any of the following with my unit; Aquatics including canoeing and boating Climbing and rappelling Orientation flights Shooting sports Any motorized activity like four wheeling At Council request like Summer Camp (must have one for summer camp) Get more information here!
